Rockefeller Center during this time of year is a feast for the eyes.The warmth of the lights prompts all faces to turn upwards as if each light is its own burning star in the sky: each face soaking in the interstellar glow of the night.

I have been pondering a few things lately regarding consumption and creation of art in its many forms. I wrote some of my thoughts out at my twitter but I suppose I will post the initial thoughts here as well:

I wonder if others need emotional attachment to art/writing/music as much as I do/crave.

The tug on the heart strings is what motivates my own art/writing. It’s hard for me to relate to art that is devoid of that tug: of ache.

Art devoid of it in any medium is flat, lifeless: as if no one has breathed life and memory into it. It rests in its own coffin.

There are some pieces of music, writing and different art mediums that are so sacred to me that I get an overwhelming feeling that trying to convey my love for all of it is always inadequate in some way.

I get a rush of adrenaline when I try to do such a task as if I am translating an ancient unearthed language.

It’s a feeling I want to put my arms around and embrace tightly…
